When was the health and safety at work act introduced?

The Health and Safety at Work Act was introduced in 1974.

It introduced a new system based on more goal-focused regulations that was supported by codes of practice and guidance for employers.

Alongside the new legislation the Health and Safety Commission was formed to propose new regulations, conduct research, and provide advice.

Shortly afterwards the Health and Safety Executive was formed to enforce the laws, sharing this duty with local authorities.
